Somerset Gay Health is a registered charity dedicated to promoting good
sexual and mental health for every Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender person in Somerset.
Somerset Gay Health has been providing services to the LGBT community in Somerset for over 15 years.
Throughout this time
we have seen many developments in Sexual health provision locally and nationally. The prevention, treatment and stigma surrounding
HIV/AIDS has evolved and progressed to a point where more and more people are accessing services and gaining knowledge around
a subject that could affect every single one of us, young, old, gay, straight. Of
all the issues facing the LGBT community this is one that is truly unique to us all. It is 100% non/discriminatory.
Some of
the biggest fears clients have is that of confidentiality. We have and always will have a strong confidentiality policy.
This means that details of your connection with the services at SGH will never be seen by anyone else and your address etc
will not be passed to any other agency. (We have a legal obligation to report child protection cases to the relavent authorities,
in which case we will tell you what we are doing and why) At times SGH may need to disclose details to other organisations/professionals.
This will ONLY be done after you have given full consent and had the details of the disclosure explained in full. We
adhere to the Data Protection act in all cases.
With our
services ever changing we rely on the public coming forward to tell us what they need. Any feedback, good or bad is a necessity
to ensure the work remains focused and targeted to those who need it most. Suggestions are always welcomed.
